NUTRITIONAL COACHING
learn the benefits and add value to your wellness plan
Is Nutrition Coaching Right for Me?
Nutrition can be an incredibly confusing and difficult field to navigate. We are constantly bombarded with articles, books and videos telling us what to eat, when or when not to eat and how to eat. Just when we think we know what’s “best” and have it figured out, it all changes again. Nutrition is a constantly evolving science and it’s my job to help you determine the truth based on the science and learn what is important for your individual well-being and what can be tossed aside.
Hi! I’m Ashleigh
ASHLEIGH WHITTINGTON, MS, CNS, LN
I’m passionate about helping my clients develop an enthusiasm for both movement and nutrition. in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. My approach is rooted in fostering a positive and judgment-free space where your unique strengths, needs, and aspirations are recognized and celebrated
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from the Maryland University of Integrative Health and am both a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a Licensed Nutritionist in the state of North Carolina.
My Approach
Functional nutrition, is an integrative, personalized, and collaborative approach in learning how to optimize your health and help you feel your best. All too frequently, nutrition guidance can be prescriptive, confining, and uninspiring. While I do see food as medicine, it is also a pleasure in our lives. I believe it’s incredibly important to highlight the enjoyment of eating, focusing on mindfulness and taking the words “good” and “bad” away from food.
We will work together, enabling you to make informed decisions on your individual nutritional needs and create a balanced approach that nourishes your body and improves your health.
How is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) different from a Registered Dietician?
The CNS and RD credentials have similar requirements. A CNS must have a Master’s in Nutrition, accrue 1000 hours of supervised experience in clinical nutrition and pass a board exam. An RD is skilled with acute medical care, while the CNS practioner addresses clients in a more holistic/functional manner.
In NC, a licensed nutritionist, which includes the same requirements as CNS; is qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy. According to NC Board of Dietietics/Nutrition, this is defined as the “provision of nutrition care services for the purpose of managing or treating a medical condition.”

How do I get started?
Schedule your discovery call via one of the buttons on this page; we will discuss your goals, concerns, symptoms, and needs as it relates to nutrition. This allows an opportunity for me to answer any your questions you might have. From there, we can decide how to move forward in meeting your goals.
Do you offer in person or virtual appointments?
Both! Most of my clients prefer to meet via Zoom for optimal convenience, but I also see clients in person at either Training Partners or my home office in Fairview.
Do you collaborate with other practitioners?
A nutritionist is just one part of a proper care team. I have working relationships with several practitioners in the area; General Practitioners, Chiropractors, Herbalists, Massage Therapists and Functional Medicine Doctors to name a few. I am always interested in working wtih practioners in other fields to help you get the most well-rounded support possible.
How often will we meet?
After our initial session, clients can sign-up for either a 3-month or 6-month program where we meet every 2-3 weeks, depending on your needs and how quickly or slowly you’d like to go. Upon completion of your program you have the option of continuing with infrequent check-ins, or renewing your program.
Depending on your needs and circumstances there is an option for a more expediated program which we can discuss during your discovery call.
Testimonials from Happy Clients
“I have been working with Ashleigh for about a year and can’t say enough about what a positive experience it’s been. I appreciate her gentle approach to accountability, her creativity, and her significant knowledge. I’m also grateful for the individualized nature of her work. She’s taken time to get to know what motivates me and what information helps me most. For the first time in my adult life, I feel good about what I’m eating and my relationship with food. She also keeps things fun and filled with laughter — it’s a joy to get to work with her.”
“After watching my aging parents lose their mobility, I knew I needed to do something to safeguard mine. I have been working out with Ashleigh regularly for almost three years now and so appreciate the improvements in my strength, flexibility, stamina, and balance.”
